Sam Sand dunes



Jaiselmer is called yellow city. Not many of the people know about the real jewels of the desert. When you travel to the city the first you encounter is the flat plain desert. Little far from the fort of the Jaiselmer there lies Sam sand dunes where you enjoy the perfect sun set. You just try to walk and walk to catch the sun view which is hidden behind the dunes. At a point when you are actually in front of the sun you just feel the setting sun's dimming light. You can also enjoy jeep safari and camel ride here. Mostly people come to Jaiselmer for desert safari. It is the most enjoyable thing to do here.

Sonar Quila


The Fort of Jaiselmer is constructed in yellow sandstone and so it is called Sonar quila which means Golden fort. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a living fort till today. People still reside in the houses inside the fort. You need to climb up for the fort as the whole structure is uplifted on a triangle shaped hill named trikuta hill. As you enter the vicinity of the fort the architecture of the place will take you back to the Royalty of the time of Rao Jiasal, a Bhati Rajput who constructed the fort. The new city is sprawled below on the flat ground. The bastions appears from the far away from Jaiselmer.

Rajput architecture's imminent feature is chhatri. The element was developed as Rajasthan is hot and arid land they mainly require shades to protect themselves from harsh sun. It is built as a large cenotaph between the  desert. Folk says that the time when it was constructed it had huge garden surrounding it. But today the garden has disappeared. The each Golden Cenotaph is of Royal family of Jaiselmer from generations.

Gadisar Lake



Gadisar Lake is a water body of the Jaiselmer constructed in 1400 AD. If a traveler loves bird watching than this is the place where one can enjoy Bird watching while boating in calm waters. The lake never dries as water is continuously supplied from Indira Gandhi Canal. Gateway to the pol is known as Tilon ki pol. Before we enter the lake there are locals who dress us up in the Rajasthani attire for our photo shoots. 

Havelis of Jaiselmer



The havelis of the Jaiselmer are a must visit for everyone. The one of the oldest havelis of the Jaiselmer are Patwon ki haveli and Nathmalji ki haveli. The unique jarokhas of the Jaiselmer have wooden doors to stop the hot air from entering. Although, the jalis filter hot air from intruding into the house. The streets are closely packed and havelis are of three to four storey. So streets remain shaded all time of the day.
