It is Sawan, cool all around,  environment is full lush green and peacock is dancing like a rainbow adorning life with colours of love. So, when clouds provide relief from intense heat people all around awaits festivals which transcend them to spiritual bliss. Nostaligia struck me while reminicising 'Jhulas', and how hours passed by swinging, every time asking " dada " to swing more farther. It reminds of unconditional affection and lots fun. Earlier, during monsoon festivals like Gauri vrat friends reunion happened on the swings in nearby gardens. But now it is sad to see people hanging out in a corner of the street with mobile phones. Although, swings have now become a show piece it still holds its significance in the month of Sawan for an extraordinary reason. Lathmar Holi - A fight of colours.

"Sab Jag hori, ya Bruj Hori" - Surdas Lathmaar Holi - is a celebration come fight come expression of Love between  men and women of Vraj on next day of Holika dahan. Vasant Panchmi breaks our monotony of winters and commences new phase. It is a fifth day of Magh month in our Hindu calendar and signals the onset of Spring. Closely associated with Lord, lets look at the festival through Vraj's way of celebrating spring season. Children out there on ground awaited for their first rain bath and everyone else were eager to smell that wet soil smell. During rain when you enter a village, on roads and in every common plots kids are seen jumping in puddles and teams fighting over a cricket team on ground. "Aav re Varsad Dhebariyo Parsad Uni Uni Rotli ne Karela nu Shaak" This is a proverb every Gujarati would remember saying it every time in their childhood whenever it rained. Sarnath Stupa, Sarnath

Dhamek Stupa is a cylindrical structure built in red bricks in Sarnath 8 km away from Kashi. Significance of Sarnath is marked by the first place visited by Lord Buddha after attaining enlightenment where he preached first sermon to his five disciples. King Ashoka further developed the site of Sarnath for Buddhist teachings and constructed Dhamek Stupa. About metres high stupa and 30 metres in diameter surrounded by monolithic railings preserves relics of  Buddha. The ruins of the whole Stupa complex is preserved intact by Archaeological Survey of India.  First teaching of Buddha was Dharmachakra pravart sutra which was given at Sarnath. It was during Ashoka period when Buddhist religion spread around the world. The excavations have made a discovery proving that this complex was university with Chaityas and Viharas, meditating halls where knowledge was preached. The great Stupa of Sanchi, India

On a hill in Raisen district of Madhya Pradesh, Sanchi Stupa is a prominent temple of  Buddhist. As many other Stupas, foundation stone of Sanchi Stupa was also led by King Ashok. When he commissioned the stupa it was in brick which later on was covered with stone and monolithic railings. The round structure splendidly stands with height of 21.6 meters and diameter of 36.5 meters. The five fundamental features of  stupa are  1. Anda - hemispherical dome 2. Chhatra - Central pillar with three Umbrellas 3. Harmika - Square railing surrounding Chhatra 4. Toran - Decorations on Top of the gateways located at four cardinal points 5.
